A group of ten sentenced of digital abuse directed at Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has convicted ten people for engaging in the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced accusations of circulating fabrications regarding her sex and sexuality, in addition to publishing hurtful comments about the husband and wife's age disparity of 24 years.
The court delivered suspended prison sentences of as much as eight months to the perpetrators. The complete verdict has still to be made public.
A circulating unfounded claim alleging that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has existed since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France is concurrent with the Macrons engaging in a legal action for defamation in the US against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted similar conspiracy theories about the French president's wife's gender.
Their legal filing contends that Owens ignored all credible evidence disproving her claim opting to platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has regularly repeated these claims on her show and social networks, and in March 2024 declared that she would risk all her credibility on her conviction that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.
Brigitte Macron first met her future husband when she was a teacher at his high school.
The two married in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was 54.
