Area Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 cars have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Law enforcement say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other smeared automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement say early analysis show the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to where it came from; officials are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the event," they added.
Local authorities stated they were working "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for information.
A high-ranking representative stated the incident rendered him without words and required to be addressed quickly.
"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he posted on a platform, referring to the death of nine victims by a gunman aiming at residents of migrant background in 2020.
