One 60-day voyage circling Australia has been cancelled in the wake of the tragic passing of an older lady who was abandoned by the cruise liner on a isolated island.

The elderly woman had been trekking on the tropical location with shipmates from the Coral Adventurer, but separated from the party for a break. The vessel departed without her and came back later that day after the personnel became aware the passenger was unaccounted for.

An extensive hunt discovered her body the subsequent day.

Authorities are examining the event, alongside law enforcement and the medical examiner.

Chief Executive of the voyage organizer said that passengers and crew on the Coral Adventurer were informed that the rest of the voyage had been terminated due to the "tragic passing and previous engine troubles".

Via official communication, he further stated that travelers would be given a full refund, and said the company was working "to arrange the homeward trips of the passengers via specially arranged planes".

Regulatory bodies also issued an revised announcement, and said they had "delivered a directive to the Captain" banning any new passengers from getting on the ship.

The ship initially left the Australian port on 24 October, and was merely two days into the voyage at the point of the elderly woman's death. Lizard Island was the first stop on the itinerary.

Guests on the ship - who generally pay substantial amounts of dollars to join the cruise - were ferried there for a day trip with the option of hiking or snorkelling.

Family Statement

The offspring of the deceased woman said that her relatives was "stunned and distressed that the liner left the location after an planned excursion without my parent".

In her statement, she portrayed her parent as an "vigorous 80-year-old" who was a participant of a hiking club.

"According to scant facts we have been informed, it seems that there was a breakdown of attention and basic judgment," she stated.

She further stated that she hoped the examination would be able to determine what "the company should have done that might have saved Mother's being".

"We understand from the investigators that it was a exceptionally warm day, and she fell ill on the hill climb," she revealed.

"Officials suggested her to return, alone. Then the boat departed, apparently without conducting a roll call.
