Nearly 25,000 homes in Queensland's southeast were left experiencing outages on the start of the week after intense storm systems impacted the region, bringing strong winds topping 109km/h.

Substantial Frozen Precipitation and Widespread Damage

Residents reported giant hailstones as large as 7 centimeters in certain regions. Weather authorities verified that different parts across Queensland had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

State Emergency Services responded to 598 emergency reports across the area, mostly for building damage but also for downed trees and water accumulation.
